Many of my mac clients are very happy with their QuickBooks 2009 and are hesitant to upgrade to the most recent version. And while I always suggest keeping up to date, sometimes they just don’t want to.

However, many of these 2009 users are running into serious problems when they try to output custom invoices on their Mac — QuickBooks generally hangs up — or even worse — crashes. There are two easy fixes to this, which I’d like to share with you.

  1. Run our your invoice with one of the standard QuickBooks invoice templates. Once that is done, change the invoice design back to your custom invoice and attempt to run it out again. 95% of the time this works, however, you need to do this for every invoice you may want to print.
  2. Most likely you are running Mac OS Mountain Lion or Mavericks, which is the cause of this conflict. The fix here is easy; simply upgrade to the Yosemite OS and your problem will be solved.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.
