September is a good month for many NY residents. Late this month, the state will begin rolling out its two tax rebate programs:
- A $350.00 check for families with school-age children under 17 with incomes between $40,000 and $300,000.
- A refund to cover the cost of any property tax increases.
This was all approved by the state legislature, who, oddly enough are up for re-election in November. They approved about $750 million in tax breaks for families and homeowners over the last two years.
It is estimated that close to one million families will receive the $350.00 rebate check. In 2015 and 2016 the money will come in the form of credits as opposed to a check.
